Maria Isabel Elizalde

Isabel was born in Benavides, Texas on May 2nd 1949 to Erasmo and Maria Tamez. She moved from Benavides to Corpus Christi to pursue a BSN in nursing. She worked at Spohn hospital before settling into her career as a nurse at Driscoll Children's Hospital. In her 29 years with Driscoll she worked her way from LVN to RN to nursing manager. Her 42 years in nursing gave her much fulfillment and was a driving force in her life. She had the unique quality of being a strong and determined woman with a very giving and gentle soul.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Balo Gallegos and son-in-law Jesse Lopez. Her mother passed just four days prior in Benavides.

Isabel was survived by her son Curtis Lee Elizalde and daughters Michelle Rene Lopez and Tricia Marie Tovar; grandchildren Jason Elizalde, Miranda Elizalde, Aaron Elizalde, Jesse and Joshua Lopez. great grandchild Michael Sirak II; sisters Ofelia Gallegos, Irene Tamez, and Sylvia Tamez; brothers Israel and Juan Tamez; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St. with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
