She was born on August 11, 1937, to her parents Felix and Josephine Villarreal.
Maria DeJesus graduated from Corpus Christi High School. She received her degree from Del Mar College in Licensed Vocational Nursing. She made a career in nursing and worked at Thomas Spann Clinic, Trinity Towers, and Doctors Regional Hospital. Maria DeJesus also volunteered at the Greenwood Senior Center and Broadmoor Senior Center, where she loved helping others.
She enjoyed collecting recipes and making them. She also had a passion for gardening, especially planting vegetables in her garden. Maria DeJesus loved organizing parties and dances for Broadmoor, where she volunteered.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Josephine Villarreal, daughter Denise Swank, brothers Estanislao G. Villarreal and Felix Villarreal, and nephew David Villarreal.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by her daughter Pamela E. Frezon and sister Maria Elena Villarreal. Also surviving are her grandchildren Gabriella Frezon, Samantha Greiner, RhaeAnn Stark, and Brandon Swank; eight great-grandchildren Logan E. Swank, Aliyah Arroyo, Sebastian Arroyo, Madison Arroyo, Anthony Rangel, Carlos Rangel, Brianna Ponce, and Christopher (CJ) Ponce; as well as several nieces and nephews and her best friend Inez Garcia.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, Texas, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Rites of a Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
