July 17, 1938 – October 26, 2026
Maria “Sweetie” E. Lemos, age 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026.
Maria was born on July 17, 1938, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Francisco and Tomasita Constante. On October 17, 1959, she married the love of her life, Arnold Lemos, in Corpus Christi, beginning a beautiful journey together centered on love, family, and faith.
Maria was a proud member of Victory Life Fellowship and a devoted servant of God. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and one of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 121. She was well known for singing this beloved Psalm during prayer meetings, sharing her faith and love for the Lord with everyone around her.
Beyond her faith, Maria had a zest for life and many passions. She loved traveling, watching football and baseball, tending to her plants, and finding special treasures while thrifting. Some of her most cherished moments were spent surrounded by family, especially during the holidays when everyone gathered together to make tamales. These traditions, filled with laughter, love, and togetherness, created memories her family will treasure forever.
Maria will be remembered for her faith, her love of family, her joyful spirit, and the special way she touched the lives of those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, and cherished family traditions will live on through all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnold Lemos; her parents, Francisco and Tomasita Constante; her sister, Trene Martinez; and her niece, Cynthia Sanchez.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Norma Torres and Lisa Vela (Fred Gutierrez); her beloved cat, Kari; her grandchildren, Luis Torres, Jr., Matthew Torres, and Marissa Vela; and her siblings, Christina Mendoza (Tony), Sylvia Garcia, Esther Salinas, Ernest Constante, Sr. (China), and Daniel Ledesma (Anna), along with numerous extended family members and loved ones.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Maria's faith has carried her home. Her favorite words from Psalm 121 will forever remind us of the Lord's love and protection:
“My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” — Psalm 121:2 (KJV)
Rest peacefully, Sweetie. You will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.
