She was born on August 21, 1948, in Corpus Christi, Texas to her parents Gregorio and Louisa Peña. After attending Roy Miller High School, she married the love of her life Rodrigo "Yoyo" R. Perez and helped him manage his Barbershop known as "Yoyo's Barbershop". Maria and Rodrigo shared 48 loving years with two sons, one daughter and 5 grandchildren.
Maria was a "devoted homemaker," dedicated to her home and family. She loved spending time at home taking care of her grandchildren, working on her yard, talking on the phone with her friends and noting tasty new recipes. She was the "Best" cook and always had a warm meal ready to share with her family and friends. She was a member of Templo La Trinidad Church, where she loved to praise and worship with her family in Christ.
Her Children and Grandchildren will always have a Special place in their hearts for her knowing that she always provided a loving and caring home for each and everyone of them.She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend to many who knew her.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio Sr. and Louisa Peña, her mother in law, Zoila Adames, sister Mary Espinoza, brother, Ralph Peña and loving husband; Rodrigo "Yoyo" R. Perez.
She is survived by her two sons; Rodrigo Perez, Jr., Richard (Adriana) Perez, daughter: Melissa (Manuel) Garza, five grandchildren; Marisa, Rodrigo, Valerie, Victoria and Jacob. Maria is also survived by her siblings; Rafaela Galvan, Amanda Garza, Hector, Gregorio, Oscar , Serapio Peña and Beto Pena, brother in law; Richard (Esparsi) Perez and Victor (Tracy) Adames.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Funeraria Del Angel Everhart located at 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, Texas from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm with funeral procession to Memory Gardens Cemetery located at 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78415 for interment at 3:00 pm.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Richard "Rick" Perez, Manuel Garza, Rodrigo (Roger) Perez, Jr., Rodrigo Perez III, Jacob Birdwell and Richard Perez.
