

Carmen retired after a long career in public service. Her life was centered on family, friendships, and travel. She always stayed up to date with the ever-changing lives of her grandchildren and was present at their events. Christmas and birthdays spent with family and friends were her favorite celebrations. Her home, especially during Christmas time, was filled with shared stories, laughter, and excellent food. Some of her favorite places to travel with her husband included New York City, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Olivia; her brothers: Ismael, Isaac, Manuel Elio, Ernesto, Jesus, nephews Manuel, Jr. and Isaac, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Abelardo, her children Melissa (Dan) and Randal; grandchildren Daniel, Declan, Chandler, and Olivia; her brother Carlos (Connie), her sister-in-law Dominga H. Salazar, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private family service was held to celebrate her life.
