She was born on June 11, 1934 in Harlingen, Texas.
Elena enjoyed spending time with loved ones, playing Bingo, and chasing her sons around with a fly swatter. She was a great cook, and a vital part of her grandchildren’s lives. Through the years she opened up her home to many family members that were in need.
Elena is preceded in death by her husband, Andres Vega, Sr.; son, Robert B. Vega, Sr. and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth B. Vega.
She is survived by her children, Andres Vega, Jr. (Herlinda), Yolanda Cordero (Richard), Elida Martinez (Andrew), Christina Nauert (Kevin), and Alex Vega. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Public visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly and will continue with a chapel service at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78415.
