

She was a 1960 graduate of Roy Miller High School and received her nursing degree soon after from Del Mar College.
As a home-town girl, Geri was a member of the Hi-Fairnessee Girls Club, the Roy Miller High School choir and played piano and sang for her church, Our Lady of Guadalupe, where her family has remained active members for over 48 years.
Geri’s talents were many, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, banker, community and campaign volunteer, and friend who loved to entertain. Always quietly leading by example, Geri had a wonderful career working for over 34 years at both Citizens State Bank and Charter Bank.
Geri is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Jaime L. Capelo, Sr. After being introduced by a family friend, Geri and Jaime kept in touch while he was stationed in Tripoli and have been together ever since. She is also survived by her beloved sons, Jaime (Sandra) Capelo, Jr., Glen David (Jennifer) Capelo; two brothers, Luis Longoria, Frank George Longoria; and six grandchildren, Berkeley, Audrey, Sam, Steven, Alex and Ben. Loved by all, she was especially close to numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne Street.
Friends and family will gather at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016 followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated on Monday, March 7 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial.
