Mario Salinas Sr., of Robstown, Texas, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on May 26, 1963, in Karnes City, Texas, Mario lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep love for his family and friends.
Mario found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. Whether he was casting a line while fishing, taking long drives, working on his truck, or firing up the grill for a backyard barbeque, he was happiest when surrounded by the people he cared about. He enjoyed spending time with friends, sharing meals with family, making trips to the trade center with his son, and visiting his grandmother’s resting place—moments that reflected his strong sense of connection and love.
He was the kind of man who showed up when it mattered most. Known for his strong personality and fiery temper, Mario was also someone people could count on without hesitation. He helped others freely, stood by those he loved, and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. His strength, resilience, and loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Above all, Mario was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a guiding presence, a protector, and someone who led by example through both life’s challenges and its joys. His love for his children and grandchildren was unwavering, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever.
One treasured memory captures his spirit perfectly: during a game of Uno with his son, Mario, holding just two cards, played a wild card and confidently declared, “UNO!... Red red wine,” only to realize he didn’t have a red card. The laughter they shared in that moment is a reflection of the warmth and humor that will always be remembered.
He is preceded in death by his beloved Zoila Gutierrez and his grandmother, Guadalupe Salinas.
Mario is survived by his children, Mario Salinas Jr., Glenda Zamora, and Antoinette Gutierrez; sisters, Francisca Vega, Martha Alvear, and Rosario Salinas; brother, Jesse Salinas; and his cherished grandchildren, Roman Gonzalez III, Orlando Gonzalez, Dominic Montoya, Viviana Montoya, and Aaliyahi Gutierrez.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all friends and loved ones for their support, prayers, and condolences during this difficult time. Your kindness has brought comfort and strength.
Mario Salinas Sr. will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and loyalty will live on in all who knew and loved him.
