Markus Benavidez

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Markus Benavidez, who entered eternal rest on July 13, 2026, at 11:45 pm. Born on September 25, 1978, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Markus lived a life centered on love, family, and creating lasting memories with those around him.

Markus was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, caring brother, proud grandfather and selfless friend. His family was the center of his world, and there was nothing he treasured more than spending time with those he loved. Whether he was gathered around the table sharing a meal he had prepared, casting a fishing line, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, Markus had a gift for making every moment meaningful.

For 23 years, Markus proudly worked at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, where he was respected for his dedication, strong work ethic, and loyalty. He took great pride in providing for his family and formed lasting friendships throughout his career.

Markus had a passion for fishing and cooking, but above all, he loved making memories. He often reminded those around him that “memories are everything.” Those words became the way he lived his life choosing time with family over anything else and making sure those around him always felt loved. Although he is no longer with us, the countless memories he created will continue to bring comfort, smiles, and strength to all who knew him.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Benavidez; his mother, Irene Benavidez; his father, Hector Benavidez; his sisters, Tanya McCandless and Jennifer Arechiga; his brothers-in-law, Micah McCandless and Abraham Arechiga; his daughters, Cassandra Flores and Audrina Benavidez; his son, Markus Xavier Benavidez; his son-in-law, Marcus Flores; his beloved grandson, Marcus Carson Flores; his niece, Moira McCandless; and his nephew, Aurelius Arechiga. He also leaves behind many extended family members, lifelong friends, and all whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

Markus’s kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. His legacy is not measured by the years he lived, but by the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he created.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in every story shared, every family gathering, every fishing trip, and every meal prepared with love. As Markus always said, “Memories are everything.” His memory will forever be everything to those who loved him.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on July 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at the same location on July 28, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on July 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on July 29, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
