Martha Luis

August 7, 1966March 16, 2021

Martha Luis a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on March 16, 2021, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on August 7, 1966 to Narciso and Hilda Luis. Martha graduated from Bishop High School in 1984 and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University Kingsville in 1993. Martha touched the lives of many people she encountered. She left the world at the young age of 54 and was welcomed into the gates of heaven by her father’s embrace.

Martha was a dedicated educator who was always willing to offer support, guidance and advice to co-workers. Her teaching career began at Texas A&M University Kingsville with the Upward Bound Program. She continued teaching in Pasadena, Texas and then came back home to Corpus Christi, Texas where she taught at Holy Family Catholic Church and recently a teacher at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.

Martha was a very caring and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. She loved them as if they were her own children. She was the aunt we could always count on to pick up our kids from school, pick them up from a practice or take them to the doctor. She was so proud of her nieces and nephews and their accomplishments.

Martha enjoyed life. She enjoyed shopping, walking, spending time with friends and especially spending time with family. She enjoyed taking her spontaneous trips during the summers. Martha will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her mother, Hilda Luis, brothers Rene Luis (Karen), Roland Luis (Shawna), sisters Magda Reyna (Ernest) and Mari Leyva (Hector) and eleven nieces and nephews.

The family has entrusted Funeraria del Angel Memorial Holly Funeral Home with their loved one. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family is limiting the services to family only. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., at S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. The burial will follow at the Rosehill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family has asked to follow Covid-19 protocols for the duration of the services and that masks be worn.

A live stream Holy Rosary and mass will be available for family and friends from out of town. This will be available on the Facebook page of Funeraria del Angel Memorial Holly Funeral Home.
