Martin Esteban Valdez, Jr., known to family as Steven and to many others as “SCUBA,” passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 40. He was born on August 26, 1984, and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Steven was a devoted father to his two boys, Noah Lazarus Valdez and Lukca Marcel Valdez, who were the light of his life. He is survived by his mother, Velma Ruth Avalos, father, Martin Esteban Valdez Sr. and his two sisters, Erica Ann Marie Valdez and Criselda Mendoza and her husband, Israel Mendoza. Jr. He was a proud uncle to his nieces, Alice Marie Valdez and Gabriella Grace Sanchez, and his nephews, Israel Mendoza III, Isaac Mendoza, and Emmett Mendoza and his girlfriend, Cynthia Garza.
Steven was a talented mechanic who never hesitated to help friends in a bind. Whether fixing a car or lending a hand, he was always there when someone needed him. He took immense pride in his Mexican heritage, embracing his roots with love and respect. His family was everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Known for his unforgettable sense of humor, Steven had a special gift for making people laugh. His jokes, quick wit, and personality brought joy to everyone he met.
Steven had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. He loved to fish, travel, and was an avid pool player, always ready for a game. His warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Steven’s memory will live on through the countless stories, laughter, and love he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
