Mary Inez (Espinosa) Garza, 83, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on January 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, Mary was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and a devout Catholic serving as a parishioner and Guadalupana at St. Cyril & Methodius Church.
Born on November 20, 1941, in Harlingen, TX, to Juan and Francisca Espinosa, Mary grew up in a loving family with five siblings. She graduated from Roy Miller High School and earned a degree in Nursing from Del Mar College in 1976. Her passion for caring for others was evident throughout her nursing career, especially in the Operating Room, where she found her true calling. Mary retired from CHRISTUS Spohn Memorial in October 2007, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication.
Formally married to Rodrigo Garza, together they raised three daughters, Norma Jean, Maurine, and Belinda, who brought them immense joy. Mary was also blessed with a stepson, Isaac, whom she adored. Esteemed for her generous and kind soul, Mary had a heart full of compassion and love. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing canasta or dominoes, and traveling. Her trip to Jerusalem and Spain with her church family were among her most cherished memories. Mary's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she lovingly cared for and took pride in.
Mary will always be remembered for her soft, healing hands that touched the lives of many, whether it was bandaging a cut, taking a temperature, or mending broken hearts. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she impacted with her kindness and compassion.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Mary's life will begin with a viewing and rosary on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 5:00 – 9:00 pm at Funeraria De Angel funeral home, 4901 Everhart Rd, Corpus Christi, TX. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate her amazing life. Mary will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her family rejoices knowing she is at peace and in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ as we read in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
