Mary Lee Johnson Jefferson Sneed Elias

Mary Lee Johnson-Jefferson-Sneed-Elias was born on September 20, 1925 in Fayettsville, Texas, to the late Henry and Mary Lee Floyd-Johnson. Mary was the eight child of her nine siblings that precedes her in death.

She was educated in the Fayette County School system and as an adult graduated from the school of Nursing in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mary accept Christ at an early age at her family home church, Sweet Home United Methodist Church in Fayettsville, Texas.

At the age of eighteen she met and married Leo Jefferson, Sr., moved to Corpus Christi united with St. Paul United Methodist Church. To the union four sons was born. After a few years this marriage dissolved and for the next forty plus years Mary remained single, raising three of her sons with the help of her mother raising her oldest son until adulthood. She did a great job as their mother and sole provider of her three sons.

Mary was a sweet daughter, mother, sister, Christian women and good friend to all who met her. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many of its ministries.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Johnson, her husband Leo Jefferson, Sr., Robert Sneed and Nero Elias, all of her sibling and brother and sister in laws with the exception of one sister-in-law in *Mo. Curtis* (Joyce), Johnny Johnson (Pearlean), Lela Darden (Eddie), Vera Davis (Robert Sr.), Lucille Ray (Kermit), Almond Johnson (Lillie V.), Lillian Daniel (Ernest), Eulean Craft (George). She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Sherman Jefferson (Vera) of Houston, Texas, Leo Jr., Clarence and Paul Jefferson all of Corpus Christi, grand and great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends. To God be the glory of her life and legacy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
