Maryhelen “Nena” Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Nena went to be with the Lord and reunite with our beloved parents on April 15, 2021, in Corpus Christi, at the age of 67. She was born on August 28, 1953 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Maryhelen was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Hernandez Sr. and Efigenia Hernandez. Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her loving siblings, Bertha Whaley, Jeannie Rodriquez, Esther Rodriguez (Jose), Alberto Hernandez, Benjamin Hernandez Jr., Leticia Hernandez Rangel (George), Carmina Hernandez, Ulises Hernandez (Magdalena), Irasema Hernandez Pena (Jesse Sr.), Veronica Hernandez Scholz (Brian) and Lorena Hernandez Ramirez (Ricardo); numerous beloved nephews and nieces, beloved grand-nephews and grand-nieces and two great nieces. Maryhelen aka “Nena” was an extremely beloved sister, aunt, godmother and friend whom adored everyone. She loved spending time with family, although never married and no children of her own she played the role of a beautiful, loving, compassionate “grandmother” to all of her nephews, nieces and the generations that followed. She loved anyone with a super great sense of humor, loved watching Hallmark movies, loved listening to all types of music, loved those BBQ gatherings with family, Thanksgiving and Christmas brought her tremendous joy and was the greatest supporter to all. To the privileged who surrounded her with love on a daily basis (you meant the world to her). The unconditional love she gave each one of you was as deep as it could be. She graduated from Foy H. Moody High School in 1972. She will forever be missed, but as we return to our daily routines we know that she will always be in our hearts and all we have to do is look up to the sky and know she is blowing kisses at each and everyone of us. “This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God.” – John 11:4
