

Marzulema Salinas Canales, 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Kingsville, Texas, on January 24, 1926, and was married to Servando Canales on August 30, 1942 in Tienditas, Texas. Marzulema was a devoted employee of HEB and retired after almost 25 years of service. She was a devout Catholic, a lifetime member of the American GI Forum, and a member of various PTAs. She had a passion for music, dancing, gardening and an immeasurable love for her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Tomasita and Rosendo Salinas, husband Servando Canales, daughters Maria Alma Canales, Gloria Canales Leal, sons in law; Timothy Gilbert Leal, Sabas Andrew “Andy” Villarreal, brothers; Rosendo Salinas Jr., Victor O. Salinas, sisters in law Clara Salinas, Coleen Salinas, and one grandson John Anthony Leal. She was survived by one brother Eliazar Salinas, a sister in law Elida L. Salinas, one daughter Sylvia Canales Villarreal and one son Servando Canales II (Kayla Lannin), nine grandchildren; Tim (Nora) Leal, Yvette Leal (Paul) Sosa, Yvonne Leal (Mario) Rodriguez, Genoveva “Ginny” Canales (Jerry) Moore, Valerie Villarreal (Ramiro) Lichtenberger, Annette Leal (Brad) Arms, Aileen Leal, Leticia Villarreal (Robert) Garza and Michael Andrew Canales Villarreal, fifteen great grandchildren; Desirae Canales Anslover, Devyn Canales, Amber Sosa, Paul-Gilbert Sosa, Elisa Sosa, Damien Canales, Cory Lichtenberger, Delmas Moore, Kyle Lichtenberger, Ellis Moore, Kelsey Lichtenberger, Skylar Renee Garza, Bradley Arms II, Johnny Guzman, and Bonnie Guzman. Three great-great grandchildren; Bryce Alvarado, Mason Anslover, and Avery Alma Alvarado, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A public visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015 starting at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Del Angel Memorial Funeral Home on Holly. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2015, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Hiawatha St. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
