

He continually sang praises to God until his last breath. Wow, what an honor to be called his sons and daughters! He left a legacy to all his children and grandchildren in trusting the word and the power of Almighty God. He believed on the promise to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it Prov. 22:6. He was a man of great strength and faith. His ministry was praying for the sick. He played professional baseball in the Mexican league known as, El Gran Mateo. He was also a great coach in the CC Softball League and simply known as, Coach.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Vicente and Juanita Gonzales Morales; brothers, Francisco, Ambrosio, Julian and Daniel Morales; sisters, Martha Orvina, Antonia Gonzales and Lydia Garza.
Mateo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maria Ortiz Morales, whom he married on August 26, 1954; children, Santiago Morales, Mateo (Martha Lyn) Morales Jr., Raul (Alicia) Morales, Joe Henry (Sandy) Morales, Mary Lou Banda and Ruth (Vicente) Cavazos; 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Juan Salazar, Vince Cavazos, Vance Cavazos, Eric Cavazos, Gabriel Morales, Matthew Morales, Billy Banda Jr., Joe Henry Morales Jr., Gilbert Lee, Jarek Lee and Kyle Woods.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Alameda Oaks and Bay Area Hospital for their professional care.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Prayer service to be held at 7:00 pm that same evening. Chapel service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
