Michael Wayne Glover, 51, met his Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 15, 2020 with his wife, children and family by his side. Mike, as he was known to so many, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 22, 1969 to James Robert and Merle Glover. He was the youngest of seven children and a friend to everyone he knew.
Mike’s mother would say, and all would agree, that Mike brought joy to everyone. As a child, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. He graduated with honors from W.B. Ray High School in 1988 and earned a scholastic scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin. As a forward on the Fighting Texan basketball team, he helped his team reach regional semi-finals. Mike was selected to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region Team, he was twice selected unanimous all district and was district MVP his senior year.
In 1996, Mike met the love of his life, Amelia. They were married on March 29, 2003. They built a beautiful life together with their two children, Kenneth and Ava. His children were the joy of his life and he cherished watching Kenneth play baseball, basketball and football, while sharing the love of cooking and grocery shopping with Ava. Both children have dad’s heart of gold and intelligence.
During high school, Mike enjoyed working with his best friend at Edlin’s Auction. After returning from Austin, Texas, Mike worked with special education students in the classroom and as a job coach for CCISD. He was often called the “gentle giant.” Mike found his true passion when he began working for Mi SWACO as a Mud Engineer. He worked hard and earned the respect of everyone he worked with in the oil industry. He was promoted to Project Engineer and in 2010; he became District Operations Manager of South Texas. Most recently, Mike went into business for himself as a Drilling Fluids Specialist/Consultant and worked on rigs in West and South Texas.
Mike never met a stranger. He treated everyone with the same level of respect and dignity and always with a smile.
