Michelangelo Ortiz entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on March 31, 2026 at the tender age of 49. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 4, 1976 to parents, Omega Ortiz and Carlos Ortiz Sr. He will be remembered for the joy, warmth, and light he brought into every room he entered.
Michelangelo was a proud graduate of Ray High School who walked across the graduation stage in 1998—an unforgettable and meaningful moment for him and his family. He lived his life on his own terms, with a strong spirit and a heart full of love.
He enjoyed the simple things that made him happy. He loved watching WWE wrestling, he spent most of his days collecting car magazines, jamming out to Tejano music, but most importantly watching his NFL Raiders. Whether on his iPad or phone, he had a special talent for finding anything he was looking for—his intelligence and curiosity always stood out.
Michelangelo had an incredible memory and loved talking about old family moments and the good times he shared with those he loved. He especially looked forward to his birthday each year, celebrating with excitement and joy.
He was known as the heart of the family and truly lived up to that name in the way he connected with others. He had a big, unforgettable smile that could light up any room. It was the best when no matter what he was doing, he would stop and embrace you with a heartwarming hug.
Michelangelo always had a playful spirit—he would joke about his height and age, saying to everyone, “me catch up to you,” and his memorable voicemails, always ending with a cheerful “beeeep” will be what we miss the most.
He will be reunited in heaven with his grandmother, Oralia Gonzalez; and Grandpa Gonzalez.
Michelangelo’s memory will forever live in his mother, Omega Ortiz, Step-dad, Jesse Arias; father, Carlos Ortiz Sr. and stepmom, Bobbie Ortiz. Sister, April Ortiz; brothers, Carlos R. Ortiz Jr., and Christopher C. Ortiz; nieces, Heather Ortiz, Cameron Neve, Avery Benavides, and Cierra Ortiz. His legacy will continue with his seven great nephews and nieces, and extended family and friends. Michelangelo will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his bright smile, loving heart, and the happiness he brought to everyone around him.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411, US, on April 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm.
