

joined his father, Domingo Mungia and sister, Monica Mungia Martinez at the right hand of the Lord on February 3, 2024. Mike who was known and loved throughout the Flour Bluff community especially the community of Mingo's Barbershop on N.A.S. Drive and the Caribbean Baptist Church on Waldron Road was born on May 25, 1962 in Victoria, Texas to the late Domingo Mungia, Jr. and Annie Reyes Mungia.
Mike will be remembered for the way he loved life and the way he loved people. Mike had an innocence that allowed him to see no wrong in anyone and accepted all individuals. Mike loved God, his family, especially his nephews and nieces, his church, and could be heard telling people "First you love God, then your wife, then your family and friends". Mike loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros and San Antonio Spurs. He had a hidden love for the Las Vegas Raiders whom he quickly gave up and clung to the Dallas Cowboys in an effort to keep his daddy's memory close to his heart. In his school years Mike was an athlete and won many awards through the Special Olympics track and field, basketball, bowling, softball and swimming. Mike graduated from Robert Wilson and was known for his sense of humor and laughter. Mike also loved music and had business cards where he was known as "Music Engineer – Mike Mungia" and could tell you the artist of almost any song in his database of thousands of songs of all genres including Pop, Tejano, Conjunto, Disco, Rock and of course his church songs.
Mike was a loving son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Along with being preceded in death by his father and sister, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Domingo & Orfelina Mungia, Flumencio & Maria Reyes and several uncles and aunts. He is survived by his loving mother, Annie Reyes Mungia, siblings, Dr. Minerva M Salazar (Juan), Manuel Mungia (Maurine), Mario Mungia (Eleanor) and Marisa M Moreno (Joey), numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces and the loyal barbers from Mingo's Barbeshop, Lucy and Sharon as well as his amazing friends Frank & Asa Matis, JC Carbajal and Valerio Mungia.
Survivors and serving as pallbearers are Mike's nephews & nieces: Juan D. (JD), Aaron and Mike Salazar; Manuel Jr., Marc Anthony, Myles, Mario Jr., and Ryan Mungia; Priscilla and Rebecca Hernandez; Bella and Diego Moreno. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike's great-nephews & nieces: Juanito, Mikey (Punky) & Ariana Salazar; Talia, Cristiano, Jayden, Sebastian and McKenzie Mungia.
The family will be welcoming all who loved Mike and had the encounter of Knowing Mike's happiness for life during visitation on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A joyous Celebration of Mike's life will be held at 6:00 PM during the visitation. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
