Minerva “Minnie” Garibay Fonseca was a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother “GiGi”, sister, and friend. She resided in Corpus Christi, Texas and passed away peacefully on December 23, 2020 at home alongside her loving family.
Minnie was born to the late Natividad and Francisca Garibay in Harlingen, Texas on March 3, 1955. She grew up surrounded by a large loving family where she originally learned her strong family values and dedicated work ethic from. She met her high school sweetheart while attending Harlingen High School and together were blessed with 3 children, Peter, Missy, and Michael.
She started her professional career as a housekeeper at Four Winds Apartments where she worked her way up quickly to become property manager. She then continued her successful career in property management for over 25 years. Most recently, she worked as the property manager for Sun "M" Management. She also obtained her real estate license in 2015 and was a Realtor with Keller Williams Coastal Bend where she worked alongside her family. She was always very independent.
Minnie was always lighting up a room with her wittiness and bright smile. She had an indescribable love for her grandbabies and great grandbabies, who she would often call her “angels.” Minnie was the epitome of selfless, she was known to be compassionate, loving, nurturing, generous and always extending a helping hand for those in need. She was a devout Christian, had strong faith and a deep love for Jesus. She truly had a heart of gold.
Minnie’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She was a loving, hardworking, single mother and a good friend.
She will be forever cherished and remembered by her 3 children, Peter (Jane), Missy (Mike), and Michael (Alison); 7 Grandchildren, Peter Allen (Cameo), Ashley (Matthew), Trey (Natalie), Jacob, Paige, Brandon, and Avery; 3 Great Grandchildren, Jett Taylor, Lakelyn Love, and one on the way; 5 siblings, Marta (Tomas), Edna (Pete), Diana (Artemio), Rolando (Sulema), and Bonnie (Tino); and many nieces and nephews who she cherished.
Preceded in death by her father, Natividad; mother, Francisca; sister, Janie; sister, Anna Marie; and brother, Natividad Jr.
