Minerva “Miné” Hinojosa Solis passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2026. Minerva was born on September 1st, 1933, to Manuel, Sr. & Consuelo G. Hinojosa. She was the eldest of two children and shared a special bond with her younger brother, Manuel Hinojosa, Jr. Minerva, born and raised in Donna, Texas, was a proud 1952 graduate of Donna High School. She always considered herself a Donna Redskin.
Early Sunday morning, September 5, 1954, Minerva married the love of her life, Joe M. Solis, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Donna, Texas. Following their wedding, the newlyweds left Donna and traveled to Corpus Christi, Texas where they would begin their life together. Joe was employed as a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Ceasar Omar, Jose Humberto, Homero Sergio and Yvonne Yvette.
Minerva was devoted to her family and was always an active and loving wife and mother. Throughout her children’s school years, she served as a room mother at Corpus Christi Cathedral and Holy Family Catholic Schools, participated in the PTA, served as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, and was a devoted dance mom. She was involved in Social Clubs throughout Corpus Christi and, above all, loved to dance!
Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Minerva was actively involved at Holy Family Catholic Church for many, many years. Her service to her parish included membership on the Pastoral Council and Finance Council, serving as coordinator of the Base Communities alongside Father Bill Elliott, OMI, and serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to the homebound. She was also a 37-year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and most recently, a member of the parish Bereavement Group. Minerva was a beautiful example of a faithful woman who lived her faith through prayer, service, and love for others.
One of Minerva’s favorite pastimes was shopping for bargains! She took great delight in finding a good deal and bringing her purchases home to show her family the original price, all the markdowns, and, of course, the final price she paid. She loved to dance and, even in her later years, found a way to keep enjoying the music by joining a chair Zumba class at Greenwood Senior Center. Music and dancing brought her joy throughout her life.
Minerva also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. For many years, she maintained a booth at Codi’s Crafts, where she spent countless hours creating, gathering and searching for special items to display and sell. These hobbies kept her busy and gave her great pleasure. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and extended family.
Her greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Minerva carried each of her children in her heart and never stopped praying for her family. Every evening, she faithfully prayed the Holy Rosary, joining Father Peter Elizardo on Facebook, remembering and praying for each of her family members by name. Her love, devotion, and prayers were among the greatest gifts she gave her family.
Minerva is predeceased by the love of her life, Joe M. Solis; her parents, Manuel Hinojosa, Sr. and Consuelo Hinojosa, her only brother, Manuel Hinojosa, Jr.; and her grandson Jonathan Steele.
She leaves behind her beloved sons, Ceasar and Cindy Solis of Austin, Texas; Joe and partner, Veronica Richards and Joe’s estranged wife Becky Solis of Killeen, Texas, Homer and Nanci Solis of Batesville, Arkansas and her devoted daughter, Yvonne (Bonnie) Solis-Recio and Frank Recio of Corpus Christi, Texas.
