

We are saddened to announce the passing of Norman Russell Bailey, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and devoted family member, friend, and patriot. He passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026 at the age of 84.
Born on April 1, 1942 in Alice, Texas, Norman answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He served honorably with dedication and courage and deeply loved his country. His military service remained a lifelong source of pride, and he carried the values of duty, integrity, and patriotism throughout his life.
Following his military service, Norman built a successful professional career in information technology, traveling throughout the world while working for respected companies including Bell & Howell, CompUSA, and Banctec. He was admired for his intelligence, professionalism, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with people wherever his travels took him.
Earlier in life, Norman especially enjoyed spending time on the family’s deer lease in Seguin. He also loved Cajun food, reading, and gathering with family and friends. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday, a time when he most enjoyed sharing meals, stories, laughter, and gratitude with loved ones.
Above all, Norman was known for his kindness, quiet strength, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Norman “Bud” and Virginia Bailey, sister, Cheryl Bailey Tajchman and longtime companion Ermelinda “GG” Jackson. He is survived by cousins, James Fletcher Bailey and Laura Faye Ellison; brother in law, Robert Tajchman; Ermelinda’s children, Cary and wife Katrina Jackson, Cheryl and husband Keith Royal, and Timi Jackson, along with many many friends who he considered family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, 11:00am at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well lived and faithfully served.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
