For 23 years, Ofelia served the Corpus Christi Independent School District, offering steady dedication and care in the work entrusted to her. Beyond her years of service, she was a devoted homemaker who centered her life on the well-being of her family, carrying herself with a quiet humility and a steadfast devotion as a spouse and mother.
On February 11, 1962, Ofelia married Erveis J. Cortez Jr. Their marriage of 64 years stood as a lasting testament to commitment, faithfulness, and the daily acts of love that shape a home.
Ofelia found comfort and joy in the simple, meaningful pursuits that filled her days. She was a seamstress and a skilled mender, someone others could rely on to make things whole again. She also worked in a nursery, was an avid reader, and enjoyed time shared with her couples bunco group—moments of companionship that brought warmth and laughter to ordinary evenings.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Anzaldua; her mother, Felisita Anzaldua; her brothers, Roberto Anzaldua and Luis Anzaldua; her daughter, Olympia Ann Cortez; and her grandson, Michael Auvis Isaacs.
Ofelia is survived by her husband, Erveis J. Cortez Jr.; her daughters, Brenda Isaacs and Veronica Tedford (David); her son, Erveis Cortez III. (Veronica); her brother, Jesus Anzaldua Jr.; and her grandchildren, Ashley Doll (Joshua), Ryane Davis (Erik), Jewell Cortez, Gabriella Crosby (Jordan), Samantha Cortez, Jonathan Tedford, and Aaron Tedford.
