Ofelia Jimenez

Ofelia Jimenez, 86, a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on September 7, 2024. Born on November 13, 1937, to Antonio and Estefanita Paz, Ofelia was deeply rooted in the values of family, love, and community. These values shone through in her roles as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

In 1963, Ofelia married the love of her life, Faustino Jimenez, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. She had a passion for life’s simple pleasures, whether it was listening to the soulful sounds of mariachi music, enjoying her favorite novelas, or solving word search puzzles. Her radiant smile and love for dancing made every family gathering more joyful, especially during barbecues and parties, where her humor and ability to tell jokes always brought laughter. As a homemaker, Ofelia found fulfillment in sewing and gardening, where she could express her creativity and care. She also had a special fondness for shopping, which never failed to bring her an even brighter smile.

Ofelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Faustino Jimenez, and her parents. Also preceding her in death are her siblings, Ramona Saenz, Antonio Paz Jr., Robert Paz, Manuel Paz, and Joe Paz. As well as her grandson, Noel "Nono" Rodriguez Jr., and her step-son Rogerio Jimenez and step daughter, Yolanda Gonzalez. Ofelia is survived by her beloved children, Maria Luisa (Martin) Palacios, Alicia (Willis "Carl") and Jose Alfredo Jimenez. As well as her sister, Virginia (Felipe) Martinez. She is also survived by a legacy of grandchildren, Alana A. Gazaway (Josh Escobar), Adrian L. Gazaway, Austin A. Gazaway, Amanda M. Vaquera, Mark A. (Claudia L.) Rodriguez, Jose A. Jimenez, George Jimenez, Richard (Ruby E.) Jimenez, Patricia D. (Ricky) Barrientes, Cynthia (Christopher) Millan, Rogerio (Elvia) Jimenez, Christina Alanis, Andrea Flores, Matthew Gonzales, and John Gonzales. Her great-grandchildren, Mark A. Rodriguez Jr., Lizette R. Rodriguez, Jadelynn A. Vaquera, Adalynn M. Vaquera, Mallenkai A. Vaquera, Zilee Pavlik, Kaisyn Vaquera, Amarica R. Rodriguez (Kristopher Orta), Kasiah M. Rodriguez (Antonio Aguilar), Ricardo R. Barrientos, Isaiah X. Barrientos, Ariana Barrientos, Robert Lopez, Nicholas Jimenez, Alfredo, Louie, Anthony, Lilly, Angiey, Aliah Flores, Lorissa A., Destiny, Margaret, John Jr., Erik, Ava, and Michael. Also her great-great-grandchildren, Ella R. Orta, Josiah S.N.R. Orta, Kateleia R. Aguilar, John Park, David Escobar, Avery Sanchez, and Liliana Sanchez.

A private family Memorial Service will be held on October 12, 2024 with Deacon JC Ayala to officiate.
