Ofilia was born on March 7, 1935 in Rockport, Tx to Onesimo and Lina Avalos. She worked as housekeeper at the State School, in addition to being a stay at home mom and caregiver to all. Ofilia was known for her family foundation and strong personality. Her home was the main point for anyone who came for a visit or lived nearby. Those that stopped by 3401 Harold Dr would be met with fresh cup of coffee, good conversation, and a place to rest on their journey. Above all, Ofilia will be remembered for the love she showed to her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ofilia is survived by her sons Robert (Lola) Sanchez and Joseph (Cynthia) Sanchez, her grandchildren Ysabel (Javier) Sanchez, Samantha (Bob) Herbst, Savannah (Chance) Sanchez-Sharp, her great-grandchildren Richard Brandon, Alysia Sanchez, Robert Sanchez, Joseph Sanchez, Joseph Herbst, Emilia Herbst, Ella Solis, Charlotte Sharp, Sofia Herbst, Theodore Solis and her great-great-grandchildren Quinton Brandon and Levi and Ezekiel Gissendanner. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and grandsons.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 28th, 2026 from 5:00-9:00pm with the rosary starting at 7:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel (4901 Everhart Rd. Corpus Christi Tx, 78411). The funeral and mass will be on Friday, May 29th, 2026 at 1:00pm at St Patrick Church (3350 S. Alameda St. Corpus Christi Tx, 78411) followed by the burial service at Seaside Memorial Cemetery (4357 Ocean Dr. Corpus Christi Tx, 78411). Following the burial service, a meal will be provided at Our Lady of Knock Hall at St. Patrick Church.
