It is often said that certain people never meet a stranger, and Olga was that person. She genuinely enjoyed knowing people from all walks of life and could have a conversation with anybody, and when she made a friend, she kept a friend. Her phone was a switchboard that she gladly fielded calls from throughout the day, whether people were calling for emotional support, just to catch up, or to share a good joke.
Olga was her own individual. Rejecting a culture that worships giant pick-up trucks, her signature vehicle was a Mini Cooper – the latest model being cherry red with racing stripes and Union Jack-printed side mirrors. And though she was Catholic, she appreciated the wisdom and beliefs of other world religions.
Olga looked forward to the annual time-share week she would spend at various resorts in Mexico with her husband Gonzalo and any friends or family who wanted to join them at a Cancun or Puerto Vallarta beach.
Her other favorite thing was following any University of Texas Longhorns sports team, from football to softball. The UT women’s softball team won the NCAA national championship the day after she died, and we hope Olga was in the stands for it.
Olga graduated from Miller High School in 1967 and was active in her class reunion group. She attended Del Mar College in the 1980s where she trained for a cosmetology license and enrolled again in the 1990s to obtain an associate’s degree for paralegal work, which was her occupation through retirement, working for several local attorneys. She also worked for a time in the 1980s at United Parcel Service, where she met her husband, and at the Prescriptives cosmetics counter at Dillard’s department store. In the 1970s she was a drug abuse counselor at MHMR.
Olga’s surviving relatives are husband of 42 years Gonzalo Adams of Corpus Christi, daughter Jessica Durkin (Chuck Pugar) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; stepdaughters Elizabeth Arauza (Ray) and Erica Adams, both of San Antonio, Texas, and their children. Her mother, Fidela R Jimenez, of Corpus Christi; and sisters Rita Arevalo (Arnold) of Richmond, Texas, Eva Guerrero (Efrain Jr.) of Corpus Christi, and brother Louis Jimenez (Mary) of Spring Branch, Texas.
Olga also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews and their families in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Richmond; and Adams in-laws in Sinton, Texas, Arnold Adams (Rose), Edward Adams (Shannon), and Irma Adams (Orlando, deceased), and their children.
Her two young dogs, Leo the chihuahua and Lexi the West Highland terrier, who were her shadow, will miss her.
Olga joins her father, Alfonso R Jimenez, in our memories, as well as a father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.

Olga was committed to progressive politics and cared deeply about civil rights and social justice. Intellectually curious and open-minded, she also was a voracious reader of magazines and novels of most genres. Her memory would be best honored with a donation to the liberal cause of your choice that advances a just society, or by reading a good book.
