Oscar pursued a successful career in mud logging, business ownership, and warehouse management before retiring. Known for his unwavering work ethic, sharp mind, and dedication, he made a positive impact in every role he undertook.
Oscar was passionate about life and found joy in many things, including watching the Dallas Cowboys, barbecuing for family and friends, enjoying music and nature, caring for animals, admiring cars, and relaxing with old westerns. His love for family gatherings and his ability to connect through humor and kindness brought warmth to those around him.
Oscar was most known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and great sense of humor, which left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Ernestina R. Garcia, and his sister, Maria D. Garcia.
He is survived by his loving children, Derrick D. Garcia (Connie); his siblings, Diana Gonzales (Carlos), Isaac Garcia (Laura), Alex Garcia (Paula), Gilda Garcia, and Terri Perez; his treasured grandchildren, Angelina, Zander, Sofia, and Samuel; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Craig Gonzales (Liza), Crystal Black (David), Cheri Marini (Manuel), Nathaniel Garcia, and Stephanie Hernandez (Manuel). His great-nieces and great-nephews, Ava Yzaguirre, Malcolm Black, Jolene Black, August Marini, and Liliana Hernandez, will also carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Medical City McKinney for their compassionate care. Special thanks also go to his many friends, family, and acquaintances who supported and befriended him throughout his life.
Family and friends are warmly invited to a Visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM that evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by the burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Oscar’s memory will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
