OBITUARY

Oscar Lopez Garza Sr.

August 10, 1957February 16, 2021

Oscar Lopez Garza, Sr, (64) was born in Harlingen, TX on August 10, 1957 and passed away February 16, 2021 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents: Guadalupe Garza and Lucia Lopez Garza, his brother Teddy Garza. He is survived by his ex-wife Lidia Garza, his step-son Jesse Martinez and wife (Jenni), Grandson Armand Martinez, his sons Oscar L Garza Jr and wife (Naomi), Edward L. Garza, his daughter Cassandra Garza and his dog Doug E. Garza.

Oscar was a respected employee of Pletcher’s Plant Nursery in Harlingen, Texas for 23 years. He worked for several plant nurseries in and around Harlingen before moving to Corpus to work at Walmart. His passions included landscaping, telling cheesy dad jokes and BBQing for his family & friends. Oscar had the uncanny ability to speak to anyone and everyone. The word stranger did not exist in his vocabulary. If you were fortunate to share your phone number with him, he would share life advice, weather forecasts, gas prices and a new joke he discovered. Oscar’s sudden passing not only impacted close family and friends but the various people he met on his life’s pathway. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will begin at 11:30am, with 2:00 pm memorial presentation on Saturday, Feb 27 2021 at the 3442 Holly Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78415 which will follow cremation.

Oscar and I grew up together in the same "hood". One of my best friends for a million reasons. I knew him and his original family (brothers and sisters) ever since elementary. Collecting comic books before it was cool is what kinda made us friends before he showed me what a truly wonderful human being he was. When I built my home in 2001 Oscar was one of four people who helped me plant about twenty pallets of grass in my front and back yard. How much did he charge me for that project? Nothing!!! As much as I insisted to compensate him ,he refused. Why I asked? Because that is what friends do for friends, he said. I could go on and on but those of us who knew him understand . RIP my friend of more than 50 years.
