Oscar G. Herrera

Oscar G. Herrera, 79, passed away July 31, 2011 with his loving family at his side. He was born October 26, 1931 in Laredo, Texas. He was retired from Corpus Christi Army Depot. He was preceded in death by his parents, Porfirio and Delia Herrera; his wife of fifty-seven years, Elida F. Herrera; his brother Vicente Herrera; and his sister Josie Lopez.

Oscar is survived by his sister Alice Cortez; 5 children, Norma Jean (Albert) Garcia of Houston, Texas, Oscar F. (Kathy) Herrera of Corpus Christi, Texas, Delia H. (Eliseo C.) Gonzales of Corpus Christi, Texas, Loretta Ella Pena of League City, Texas and Elizabeth (Bebet) Herrera of Corpus Christi, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Albert Jay Garcia, Christal G. Flores, Tammy Vasquez, Stephanie Gonzales, Robyn Pena, Brittany Herrera and Ryan Pena; 6 great-grandchildren Erin Garcia, Brandon Garcia, Kaylee Jameson, Elena Vasquez, Jose Angel “Baby Joey” Flores, and Ava Vasquez.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. that same evening. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral procession will depart from Cage-Mills Funeral Directors Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Herrera’s name to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
