Parris David Rodney Russell, age 78, passed away March 13, 2019. He was born April 10th, 1940 to Fred and Amelia Russell at the University Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He grew up in the Peace River County of Alberta, in the town of North Star. As a young man he served in the Canadian Air Force Cadets and a highlight was the troop train he took across the Canadian Rockies to Burnaby B.C. (Canada). He attended school in North Star, Alberta, Manning, Alberta and in the U.S. After school he met and married Evelyn Winter from Victoria, Texas and went to work for F.W. Woolworth in Victoria. He left Woolworth and went to work for H.E.B., spending 20 years with them as their Toy & Housewares buyer. He loved the toy business and recalls the cabbage patch dolls, lemon twist, hula hoops and clacker balls that were the hit today and gone tomorrow toy. He always said Disney’s Mickey would be a hit forever and he was right. After H.E.B. moved to San Antonio (he refused to move) he went into the brokerage business then started a lawn maintenance company in which he was very successful. He was a good man, a good person and loved his family dearly. He will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Evelyn Russell; his mother, biological father, and three brothers: Allan & Dennis Anger and Garry Russell.

Memories...He always cracked up recalling a time when my daughter tossed her flip flop at him. He came to mow the yard so in the summer she was home when he came. We would sit outside & chat. Once they were playing around and she playfully took off a flip flop and tossed it his way. He laughed and tossed it back at was their thing...flip flop tossing. He always brought treats for my dog in the back yard. He loved "grandpa" and talked about how much he enjoyed visiting with the dog. We both have April birthdays and every year Parris sent me a actual birthday card via the USPS. That was the single piece of mail worth receiving in the entire year. I'm gonna miss that. And I'm gonna miss him. All of his quirky-ness. God bless you Parris and God bless your family & friends. You were loved and you are missed, dear friend.
