Paulette L. Rains, age 78, passed away at home peacefully on Thursday March 4, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Navasota, Texas on February 10, 1943, to the late Gove Leroy Clifton, Jr. and Adelene Clifton. She attended Flour Bluff High School and Beauty College. Paulette married Darrell Rains in 1967. She worked for many years, as a beautician, working at her own beauty shop with her mother and later at La Petite Beauty Salon. She decided to become a stay-at-home mom in the 1970’s so she could help her kids through school and go to their football and kickball practices and games. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother (mom), grandmother (Nana) and great grandmother (Nana), sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends. She enjoyed participating in all the family events and playing poker, and fishing. She made virtually every family hunting and fishing trip and roughed it, even though hunting wasn’t necessarily her favorite thing to do, she really enjoyed the time with the family more than anything. In her later years, she loved to go to the casino in Eagle Pass and play the slot machines and especially loved hitting a big jackpot! Paulette will be remembered for her contagious smile and laugh! She always had a quick smile, loved her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and family gatherings. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, June Ely; brother, Gove Leroy “Bubba” Clifton III; brother in laws, Donnie Rains, Ronnie Boyd, and Darrell, her loving and devoted husband of 48 years. Paulette leaves behind her family to cherish her memories, one son, Roddy Black; one daughter, Lisa Majek (Jimmy); two grandchildren, Jerry Majek (Angel Lyons) and Jamie Majek (Chris Smith); six great grandchildren: Allison, Brayden, Jaxson, Tanner, Kathryne, and Adelynn; one sister, Shirley Boyd; one brother-in-law, Rocky Rains (Christi); and sister-in-law, Tresa Rains; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would especially like to give our sincere thanks to Aurora DeLaCruz, her very devoted caregiver. Aurora became as close as family to Paulette and her family. The pallbearers will be: Rocky Rains, Duane Rains, Roddy Black, Jerry Majek, Jimmy Majek, Brandon Rains, Jeremy Rains, and Chris Smith. Family will be receiving friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 13, 2021, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
