Ramiro "Birdie" Flores Campos

Ramiro was destined to lead by example, teaching with patience and positively influencing everyone he met. From an early age he demonstrated a servant's heart. As a child, he served as altar boy, participated in Boy Scouts of America and excelled in the ROTC program at Foy. H. Moody High School. He graduated from Moody H.S. in 1974. During these formative years, he formed a lifelong friendship with his next-door neighbors Mr. Chale And Mrs. Emma Garza and family. Their bond lasted a lifetime, Ramiro (Ram) was considered part of the Garza Family, sharing countless family vacations, celebrations and cherished memories together.

Ramiro’s early experiences were the start and would continue to lay a foundation that would last a lifetime. Ramiro’s qualities of service and leadership would continue to develop as he joined the United States Navy. While in the U.S. Naval Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois Ramiro served as the Recruit Petty Officer in Charge (RPOC) for his Company 189, alongside was his childhood best friend Rick Riojas who served as the assistant Recruit Chief Petty Officer (AROC). Ramiro honorably served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1974 to 1976.During his Navy service time Ramiro would meet the love of his life, Rosemary Gonzales and would start a partnership that would span a lifetime.

In 1977, Ramiro began his civil service career at the Corpus Christi Army Depot where he served until his retirement in November 0f 2014. Over his 39 years he would advance from an aircraft parts cleaner and eventually become a work leader and continue to advance to highly respected positions within the sheet metal trades. His exceptional mechanical aptitude, wisdom, and dedication made him a great asset and would lead him to greater responsibilities. Throughout his career, Ramiro would receive numerous awards and be recognized for his outstanding service. His commitment to his country extended beyond the Army Depot as he volunteered for temporary duty assignments in numerous other U.S. states as well as going overseas to countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and Korea.

Beyond his career, Ramiro embraced life with a certain enthusiasm. He had a natural gift for making people laugh. He was always ready with a quick-witted remark or perfectly timed joke. He had a warm and playful spirit that would put everyone around him with a good sense of ease. He was an avid golfer playing in the Pan American Golf Association (PAGA) for many years. He was a sports enthusiast and loved teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. He loved fishing and teaching his kids how to fish. He was a decent bowler and could skate with the best. He loved shooting pool and considered himself a pool shark. He enjoyed being a W.B. Ray High School Band Booster Volunteer when his kids were playing in the band and many other things. He truly was a jack of all trades; he had the ability and knowledge to repair almost anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand as well as share his knowledge. His strong work ethic, generous spirit and abundance of wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ramiro "Ram" was born on June 21, 1956, in Corpus Christi Texas, and preceded in death by his parents Bernadino Campos and Luisa Flores Garza Campos; his sisters Guadalupe R. Flores (Eufredo Flores), Consuelo F. Riojas; brothers Valentine Riojas (Margarita), Reynaldo Torres (Sesusa), Roberto Deloy (Connie), as well as other loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosemary G. Campos; children Christopher Bernadino (Judy), Tessey Michelle (Priscilla), Ramiro Gabriel (Yazmin), Levi Angel (Katrina Echelmeyer), Fermin Gonzales, Jr; grandchildren Sean, Kaleb, Ramiro, Joel, Lilyana, Mykah, Xander, Jaxxon, Noah, Dante, Wesley; father in law Angel M. Gonzales; brother/sister in laws Joe Gonzales(Mary), Irene Arriaga (Rudy), Fermin Gonzales (Eleanor), Tony Gonzales (Patty); nieces Janie Lopez, Mary Guerrero, Nelda Saldana, Liz Galvan; sister Gloria De Los Santos; brother Arnold Coronado; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart road, Corpus Christi Tx 78411, on July 14, 2026, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with The Holy rosary at 7:00pm. A Mass of The Resurrection will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St., Corpus Christi, Tx 78416, at 11:00am. A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christ, Tx 78410 on July 15, 2026.

Ram, you gave us everything, and now we carry your abundant wisdom and love in our hearts. Forever grateful for the beautiful life you shared with us. Rest In Peace Babe in God's care until we meet again -Rose
