He was born on March 25, 1946 to Mary Valdez and Guadalupe Chapa in Donna, Texas and he was also raised there. Ramiro served in the Army from 1968-1970. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge, SP4, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, WW2 Bronze Service Stars.
Ramiro married his wife of 52 years on October 28, 1967. He was employed by Corpus Christi Army Depot and retired in 2008. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ramiro enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He will be remembered for his great smile, hard work ethic, and being a loving family man. Ramiro was a man of great character and integrity. If anyone asked him for help, he would not hesitate to lend a hand. “Always do it right the first time” was his motto.
He is preceded in death by his son, Ramiro Chapa, Jr.; his mother, Mary Valdez, father, Guadalupe Chapa, brother, Rene Chapa; Mother-in-law, Theresa Sepeda, father-in-law, Jesus O. Zepeda; Brother-in-laws, Ernest Sepeda, Victor Sepeda, Jesus Zepeda, Arnold Zepeda; sister-in-laws, Laura Quinones, and Sylvia Benavides.
Ramiro is survived by wife, Mary Alice Chapa, daughter, Michelle (Jose) Vasquez, Jr.; grandchildren, Ramiro Ray (Natasha) Chapa, Jacquelyn (Abel) Silva, Jose M. Vasquez; great-grand child, Lucas Silva “his Little Bear”; brothers, Joe (Gloria) Sambrano, Richard (Anna) Chapa; Sisters, Mary (Leonard) Gomez, Rebecca Chapa, Rachel (Ray) Guzman.
Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Ss Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 3210 S. Padre Island Drive, Kostoryz Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415, with Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. followed by Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
