Ramiro Garcia Saenz Sr., 88 years of age, born on Monday, March 30, 1931 to Jose and Estefana Saenz in Robstown, Texas. The morning of Thursday, March 19, 2020 surrounded by his loving children, he peacefully closed his eyes as he left us to be embraced by the Lord.

Ramiro is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Valentina Saenz, his parents, his brothers, Sam, Jose Oscar, baby Oscar Saenz and his grandson: Ramiro “Bubba” Saenz, III. He is survived by his children: Ramiro Saenz Jr. (Hilda), Esther Gallegos (Armando), Rosalinda Saenz Ramirez, Nelda Esquivel (Jesse), Sister Jo Ann Saenz, Lydia Alaniz (Armando), Patricia Saenz-Ramirez (Onesimo) and Larry Ray Saenz Sr. (Patricia); brother: Rojelio (Lile) Saenz, Sr.; sister-in-law: Camilla (Abel) Herrera; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ramiro, an exceptional man, was well loved and respected by all that knew him. He was an individual of upstanding character. He loved to tell stories, tend to his garden, listen to his favorite music, cook and spend time with his family. Let me just say, he made great barbeque and carne guisada! He was a dependable family man and friend. He rose to every occasion deemed teachable.

This is one of our favorite stories: One day, as we were walking out of Home Depot, he shows us two small washers he is holding in his hand and says, “Look what I got.” Patricia says, “Did you take those? And you’re the one always giving us honesty lessons?” He then chuckles as he pulls out a receipt from his shirt pocket for 8 cents!!! He continued to say that no matter how small an item is, we do not take what does not belong to us.

A private viewing will be held at Memory Gardens from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for family and a public viewing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. with restrictions.

Regretfully, due to the Coronavirus, a private funeral service will be held at Memorial Park in Robstown, Texas, on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.

A Memorial Mass to honor his life will be held at a later date.

I didn’t get to spend much time with Grandpa but the moments I did spend with him where always special. The week I was able to spend with my family was amazing I will never forget all the memories. I hope we can all be together one day .I long to see this scripture fulfilled : Isaiah 25: 8 “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it.” Love you all mucho

I remember this day clearly. You called asking if I wanted to have lunch with you and of course I could never refuse. You opened my door and had a flower in your hand. A flower for me. You always made it a point to make me feel loved.
I saw you today at the funeral home and you looked exceptionally handsome and young in your suit and tie. I hated to leave you but I had to remind myself you’re not actually sleeping there but in heaven with the angels.
I love you Deddy 💕

My Grandpa Ramiro was such a kind and gentle man. He always had the best stories to share with words of wisdom. One of the things I admired most about him is how he would take his time and appreciate the people and nature around him. I always felt a sense of peace when he was around. My daughter, Delainie, and son, David, didn't spend a lot of time with him, but cherished the time they did spend with him. Whenever they received a coin or a 5 dollar bill from him, they would light up and ask "Is that from Big Grandpa?" Even though the coins and dollars had value attached to them, they were always priceless to us.
Thank you for the love and memories, Grandpa. We love you forever!

I remember my grandfathers kind, soft voice. I remember hanging out at the KC hall as a child while he worked. I remember him cooking menudo and just sitting around the table enjoying his family. When we drove through Texas on our way to California he was really nice to my husband and showed him his garden and gave him a knife. My grandfather had a sense of humor and he loved my grandmother so much!
I'll miss you so much Grandpa!

I never met Mr. Saenz but after reading his obituary and seeing his photo, i wish I had. He reminds me of my father who died many years ago, and used to also give the same advise as Mr. Saenz. In fact, when I was a young boy ( I am 80) my brother Manuel had a friend whose name was Ramiro Saenz. My deepest sympathy to the Saenz family for their loss and may God have Mr. Saenz in His warm embrace finally resting in peace.

It must have the summer of 1981, Ramiro and his family was visiting my brother Armando and Esther in Shafter Ca. I was just a 17 year old kid getting ready to go out on a date, however I was a bit nervous and thought I’d share this feeling with Ramiro and after a few minutes of speaking with Ramiro he gave me the courage to finally meet my date and he actually removed his graduation ring from his finger and handed to me to wear on my date so if I would get nervous I could rub the ring and remember our conversation. Needless to say I never found the need to rub the ring, however I never forget our conversation and how he took the time to make me feel better about myself. We are gonna miss you Ramiro and whenever I ever get nervous about anything I will rub my ring and think of you.
Love Always and RIP
