Raymond John Kubik

He was born in Kimball, South Dakota on September 8th, 1934. He graduated from Meckling High School top 10 in his class! Albeit, there were only 10 in his class!

Raymond married Helen on December 30th, 1952 until her passing in 2020. He joined the U.S Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate in 1952 and retired as a C.P.O. in 1971. After his retirement he was employed by Nueces County Precinct 4 as maintenance and head mechanic. He retired as the Precinct 4 roads supervisor after 20 years of dedicated service.

As many may know his main passion was hosting and entertaining in his garage/bar “Rays Place”. He hosted many gatherings from wedding receptions, graduations, birthdays, scat tournaments, holidays, Saturdays and football Sundays. His love for classic cars led him to restoring a 1955 Ford pickup and a 1958 Buick which is still running today. He spent over 15 years in Laguna Little League as president and player agent. He was also chief mechanic for the Corpus Christi Confederate Air Force. Above all his favorite thing to do was going to the casino with Helen.

Raymond is survived by children, Rhonda Coleman (Kurt), Randy Kubik (Christina), Robert Kubik (Cricket), Debbie Ferreris, his beloved sister Marge Dominiack of South Dakota, along with 10 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Raymond has been reunited with his son Ronnie Kubik.

He was many things to us, our banker, our mechanic, our cheerleader, our provider, and mostly our friend. He went by many monikers in his life, Ray, Ray J., Homer, Rayferd, Raybob, Crapaw, Grandpa, Pops, and Chief to 5 of the luckiest people on earth. He was known as “Dad”. Fair winds and following seas, Chief. We love you. Grab mom and Ronnie’s hand and keep watching over us.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 20, 2023 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, followed by military honors at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
