Reynaldo Gonzales, 77, of Corpus Christi, passed away on December 5, 2025, after a long illness. Reynaldo was a man of honor and deep faith, known for his unwavering love for his family and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. His sharp wit often appeared when least expected, and his warm presence ensured that there was never a moment of awkwardness around him.
Born on June 11, 1948, in San Benito, Texas, to Isabel and Rufino, Rey was raised in a home devoted to the Catholic Church, where regular church attendance was an essential part of life.
After graduating from Mary Carroll High School, Rey and his twin brother proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of service that shaped his character and values.
In 1968, while living in Corpus Christi, Rey met the love of his life, Ofelia Garcia. The two were inseparable from the start, and on July 11, 1970, they were married. Rey cherished their life together and often said with pride, "I have been married for 55 glorious years."
Rey retired from DuPont and embraced a new role that brought him immense joy devoting his time to his wife, children, and grand-children. Whether cheering from the sidelines at sports games or caring for his grandchildren in their early years while their parents worked, Rey's love for his family was evident in everything he did.
A faithful servant of God, Rey was an active member and deacon of Brighton Park Baptist Church. He dedicated countless hours to supporting and nurturing the growth of the congregation, living out his commitment to serving others.
Rey will forever be remembered for his devotion to faith, family, and service. We could not have asked for a better husband, father, or grandfather. His absence leaves a profound void, but his legacy of love, humor, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Reynaldo was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, and twin brother, and is survived by his beloved wife, Ofelia; his sons, Mark (and daughter-in-law Alma) and Stephen (and daughter-in-law Jessica); and his treasured grandchildren—Michelle, Kevin, Jacob, and Aaron.
Rey also will be deeply missed and forever loved by members
of the Gonzales and Garcia families and many close friends.
A Funeral Service with military honors will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi. Visitation is at 11 a.m. on that same day.
