He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Benita Brunner; siblings, Jim Brunner (Geneva), John Brunner (Lucero Tellez), Robbe Brunner (Mark Henricks), and Denise Garvel (Randy); uncle, Dennis Brunner (Georgia); nephews, Brad Wernke (Jessica Hurley), Cory Wernke, and Ben Collins; nieces, Ashley Wernke, Jennifer Simmons (Zach), Shealynn Brunner; great-nieces, Peyton Wernke and Brianna Brunner; cousins, Amber Carruthers (T. J.), Brian Brunner, Paige and Meredith Carruthers, Peyton, Luke and Kaylee Brunner; and pets, Tate(r) and Lola.
Richard graduated from Banquete High School and Texas A & I Kingsville. He worked at Texas A & I Farm Kingsville and the Ricardo Co-op and continued on to work 34 years in the oilfield service at Weatherford Lamb, Spindletop Tubular, Allis Chalmers and Offshore Energy Services.
He was an avid hunter and backyard vegetable farmer. He was “google maps” with unbelievable detailed memory for facts and figures and was also a master at completing crossword puzzles in pen. He never complained about any situation and was always cheerful. Richard was a delightful, thoughtful, quirky, people person and well loved by many.

The family will be receiving friends and family at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Chapel Service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
