Richard Vallejo Reyes, 70 years old, was born October 15, 1950 in Weslaco, TX. He gained his wings on December 22, 2020 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston,TX. He was raised in Corpus Christi, TX, and graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1969 and was a member of the parish council at Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, friend and dog lover. Richard was a plumber, an electrician, a welder, a coach and a mechanic, he was a man of many traits. He had many hobbies, such as, playing pool, baseball, barbequing, hunting/fishing, making rosaries/belt buckles/bracelets and many other things. He enjoyed watching all sports and played softball for many years. He also enjoyed helping and guiding others through life's journeys. But, most of all, he loved being able to pass down his life skills that he learned over the years to everyone, especially his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being able to share his knowledge and skills was something he really enjoyed and took pride in.

Richard was a stern, loving, humble, humorous man and strong in his faith. He had pride in himself and in his family, he was the definition of strength. After nine years of a courageous journey with cancer, our heavenly father called his faithful servant home. Through it all he kept God #1 in his heart and his faith remained stronger than ever. I just found out today on the passing of my good friend and teammate of numerous tournament softball teams. Condolences to his wife and all his family. Richard was a special kind of guy that drew people to him and he reached out to all. Rest In Peace, my brother.

I worked with Richard for a good many years at Coastal States and then at Valero. He was a strong personality that I always liked working with and joking with him. He always brought us the Bar-bacoa on Sundays when it was his weekend to cover at Coastal. He will definitely be missed. My prayers and good thoughts go out to you and yours. 🙏🙏🙏🙏💔💔

Mr. Richard was a great man and will be greatly missed. We considered him family as we spent countless hours with his family during softball seasons. He was truly a special friend to my dad.

Blessings to you all,

My uncle Richard and friend was an amazing, courageous man who will always be one of my greatest hero's. He knew no strangers and was always willing to help, guide, and assist....or knew someone who could. Being an exceptional family man and friend, he graciously drew others along with him on great adventures, whether it be going to Yellowstone National Park, or spending family time at the ball park, field, ranch, or back yard. We have all been blessed by him in so many ways and he will be deeply missed. Love you Uncle.

To the Reyes family my deepest condolences on the passing of Richard. He was a true fighter and a man with a gentle soul. I will always remember his kindness to me as his former sister-in-law through out the years and always made me feel a part of the Reyes family. May you rest in eternal peace and embrace in the Glory of our Father.

My thoughts and prayers are with Richards family. Cousin Oscar had a great weekend with Richard a few years ago watching his grandson play college baseball in Indiana. May God provide peace and strength during this difficult time.

Our primo Riche was one of the strongest, most gentle souls our family was blessed to love! He went out of his way, no matter how sick or frail he was recently, to attend family funerals in Weslaco, call my dying Mama & to always check up on his Vallejo-Sánchez primos! We loved him so much, & always told him how grateful we were for his kindness!
May he Rest in Eternal Peace with God's Angels, Tía Queta, Tío Rey & family.
Praying for all the Reyes family left behind to cherish his memory & honor his amazing legacy of hard work, service to family, community & most of all, God!
