Robert "Bob" Escamilla

Robert Escamilla, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on November 1941, in Runge, Texas, to Thomas and Ernestina Escamilla.

Robert proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, earning two bronze stars, the Vietnam service medal, and Vietnam campaign medal. After his military service, he had a distinguished career as a terminal operator with various refineries including Valero, Champlin and CITGO, where he dedicated 40 plus years of hard work and commitment.

An avid sports enthusiast, Robert was a passionate fan of the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans, finding joy and camaraderie in following his favorite teams. His love for football and baseball was a testament to his spirited and lively nature.

Robert was a devoted member of Annaville Baptist Church for many years, where he contributed to the life of his church community with his steadfast faith and kindness. As the oldest sibling of seven, he shared a special bond with his brothers and sisters—Gilberto, David, Estella, Esther, San Juana, and Yolanda—as well as a sisterly bond with Modesta Garcia.

A prayer service and sharing memories will occur Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. A catered reception will occur Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. An interment with military honors will occur Monday, September 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
