God called Robert Ray Selvidge home on January 18, 2021 at the age of 67 after a long and courageous battle with Vascular Dementia. Robert was born in San Antonio, Texas to Bobby and Loretta Selvidge and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated with the class of 1971 from Mary Carroll High School, going on to later marry his high school sweetheart, Deborah Walker Selvidge in 1974.
Robert had a very strong work ethic and a passion for his occupation as a Structural Steel Detailer. He knew at a very young age he wanted to pursue this career and he excelled at it. After he got experience he went on to create his own business, Selco Technical Services, as a Steel Detailer and Checker and where he enjoyed training others in the field.
Robert's favorite pastimes included catamaran sailing/racing and working on racecars with friends at CC Speedway in his younger days. He also enjoyed camping, playing a game of pool, watching SyFy shows and NASCAR races. You could almost always find him tinkering in the garage or fixing something around the house.
In his final years, he resided at Rosenberg Health and Rehabilitation where he made numerous friends. He will be remembered for showing inspiring courage, strength and perseverance.
He is preceded in death by his father Bobby Selvidge and his brother Donald Selvidge. He is survived by his mother Loretta Selvidge, his daughters and their spouses Shawna Clay (Brad) and Stacie Saenz( Richard), grandchildren Thomas Shannon Clay, Liam Oliver Clay, Paul Luis Saenz, Brooke Nicole Saenz and Kyle Robert Saenz, his sisters and brother-in-laws Sharon Meadows (Roy), and Donna Prudhomme (Dennis) and a host of extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in the Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
