Robert W. Wilmoth, Sr., (75) beloved husband and father, met our Lord on February 3, 2011. Born in Laredo, Texas on July 20, 1935 Bob was known as a tough, straightforward and hard workingman. A retired United States Navy and Coast Guard service man, Bob served from 1952 to 1961 and was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars (Korea) and the American Legion. He was a consummate “oil and gas man” and lived his life just as he wanted to. After working 20 years as a machinist at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, ARADMAC, Bob founded Bobco Oil Field Service and Equipment Company. Nicknamed “Bobco” by many of his family and friends, he knew everything there was to know about the oilfield. Made of leather and tough as nails, Bob was a true cowboy. Rarely without his cowboy hat, cover alls and his truck, he exuded confidence and strength. As tough as he was he believed in higher education and returned to Del Mar College and received an Associates in Art degree and then attended Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas. He lived life to the fullest and will be missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert Wilmoth and Drucilla Foster Gholson, step father Warren Gholson, father-in-law, Jesus Gomez, Sr., and beloved mother-in-law, Genoveva Salinas Gomez both of Corpus Christi, Brothers-in-Law Oscar Salinas and Kenneth Jorgensen, Nephew Jesse Roland Gomez and Lee Haynes, Nieces, Gina Ross, Kaitlyn Jorgensen and her sister Kendal.
His wife, Diana Gomez Wilmoth, survives Bob. Their wedding anniversary is December 12 and they have four children, Debra W. De Los Santos (Ricardo), Robert W. Wilmoth, Jr. (Kim), Yvette Wilmoth-Owens (Kevin) and Tricia Willis. His brothers, Marvin Earl “Sparky” Wilmoth (Joanne), Charles Gholson (Brenda), Jimmy Gholson (Lynn) and a sister, Linda Brown also survive Bob. His grandchildren are Danielle and Richi De Los Santos, Trey and Tyler Wilmoth, Connor Willis and, Kimberly Gonzalez, as well as three great-grandchildren.
Bob was so proud to be a member of the Gomez family and leaves behind 8 Sisters-in-law, Dora Salinas, Lita Fuentes (Tony), Felita Allred (Sam), Dee (Aaron) Jesse (Bea), Cindy Jorgensen, Linda Ballard (Bob), Idie Johnson (Neil), Glenda Garcia (Boogie) and numerous nieces, nephews, which total 143.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 with a memorial mass immediately following at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. To offer your condolences visit us at: www.cage-mills.com
