

He served during WWII and was a proud Army Veteran. He was decorated Purple Heart recipient and also received other various medals. Beto was very proud of having served his country that anyone he met he would share his WWII stories. After the war, he moved to Benavides where he owned a feed store and other businesses. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed drawing the outdoors. He also loved hunting and camping with his nephews. He worked at Memorial Medical Hospital for many years where he made many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roberto Garcia and Victoria B. Heras; his sisters, Elia G. Perez, Alicia Hernandez, Gloria Segura and his brother Jose Heras, Jr.
Roberto is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Aurora P. Garcia; his children, Martha (Victor) Alvarado, Gracie (Rick) Lugo; his grandchildren, Victoria, Jennifer and Jacob Alvarado, Trevor Longoria and Kate Lugo; various nephews, cousins, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
