

Rojelio (Roy) Montalvo, 91 passed away May 11, 2025. Born on August 8, 1933, in Lyford Texas to Nieves Montalvo and Manuela Pena. Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 serving with the 25th Infantry Division in Korea.
In July 1957, he married Lydia, sharing 65 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2021. Roy owned and operated his own Barber Shop from 1962 until his retirement in 2020. His favorite hobby was bowling, and he participated in the annual United States Bowling Congress Tournament since 1992, always looking forward to it. When asked how he had done, Roy would respond, “I had a good time”!
He is survived by his three children: Dina (Doug) Ahrens, Delia (George) Gutierrez, and Daniel (Katie Gorman) Montalvo; six grandchildren: Nick (Stacy) Ahrens, Kim (Brian) Davis, Danielle Ahrens, Dylan Ahrens, Eloise Montalvo, Simon Montalvo; seven great grandchildren: Jackson, William, Samuel Davis; Teagan, Mia, Grayson, and Decker Ahrens.
He was a life-long fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. He was a dedicated member of SSCM parish. He and mom also led weekly bible club meetings with their friends. He volunteered his time at SSCM parish as an usher, CYO sponsor, Works of Mercy, Mother Teresa Shelter and for the annual Easter Sunrise Passion Play at Cole Park during the 1970’s-1980’s years. His devotion and love for the church was very important and his daily bible reading was vital to who he was and the special man that we all know and loved.

A visitation for Rojelio will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:25 PM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, Texas.
