Rosalinda G. Aguirre was born on August 30, 1948, in Benavides, Texas, to Patricio and Rosa Garza. Rosalinda lived a blessed life filled with the love and joy of a vibrant, passionate, and devoted family. On October 14, 2022, Rosalinda went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a long battle of liver disease and renal failure. As in life, she was surrounded by her loving family when she passed on to her next great journey.
Rosalinda was raised in Benavides, Texas and is a graduate of Benavides High School, Class of 1967. She received her associate’s degree in Computer Data Process from Bee County College. She worked many years with Benavides, ISD, Guardian Angel Home Health and was a substitute teacher with Dallas ISD for a short time.
Our beautiful mother exceeded all medical statistics and expectations. After her surprise diagnosis in 1996 of cirrhosis of the liver (due to a previously unknown medical procedure complication), she was given a precious selfless gift and received a liver transplant on August 25, 2001 at UT Health – San Antonio. In late December 2009, Rosalinda’s kidneys officially failed and she was on dialysis with Davita till the day before her passing. Despite her overwhelming medical issues, Rosalinda never let it quell her spirit and spunk. She continued to travel and live life to its fullest despite routine dialysis treatments. She would be sure to schedule them even in places like Las Vegas or the Pikachu, as she often called the Kickapoo. She never let her medical conditions define her or restrict her from doing the things she loved. Most of all, Rosalinda treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings. Regardless of her ailments, she regularly attended games, concerts, and various other competitions. Her days were never complete until she would say "goodnight, I love you, may you sleep good with all your angels to the north, south, east and west and don’t let the bedbugs bite" to her loving sister, Osbelia. There was not a night that would go by that they weren’t chatting and laughing. Rosalinda was an inspiration to so many. Her faith and bravery allowed her face every obstacle head on and never look back.
Rosalinda is preceded in death by her parents, Patricio and Rosa Garza; grandparents, Juan and Antonia De Los Santos. Rosalinda is survived by Arnold E. Aguirre and her four children, Arnold R. Aguirre (Virginia) of Benavides, Texas, Anna L. Thomas (Joel) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Alma P. Aguirre of Addison, Texas, and Amanda M. Aguirre (Michael Longoria) of Benavides, Texas. Rosalinda is also survived by her four siblings, Osbelia Reyes of Oilton, Texas, Reymundo Garza of Laredo, Texas, Dr. Sergio Garza of Laredo, Texas, and Saul Garza (Rachel) of Oilton, Texas. Rosalinda was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and one on the way, Samantha, Felicia, Arnold, Jr., Clarissa, Meagan, Carlos, Zilee, Amariah, Kasiah, Anastacia, Brook, Luke, Robin, Steve, Simone, Avery, Lilianna, Elle and Zoe.
We would like to give a special thanks to UT Health – San Antonio Transplant Center for the amazing care and gift of healing. We are especially grateful to Mark Dedmon, PA-C for always being by our side and guiding us through uncharted waters, answering our calls, and treating our mom not like a patient, but family. And to Davita Brook River of Dallas, we are thankful for their selfless kindness and attention to our mother during dialysis. We couldn’t have accomplished 13-years on dialysis without their help. To Bill, our precious driver who gave our mother a sense of adventure on her ways to and from dialysis we are forever eternally grateful. Even on her last ride, you always made sure our mom was your main priority. To Mrs. Williams, mom’s riding buddy, thank you for your sweet friendship and unconditional love to our mom. We are so blessed to have had an awesome medical team, family and friends. We couldn’t have had 26-years wonderful years with our mother without your support and we can never thank you enough.
