Rose Ellen ( Scheffler ) Broll, age 96, passed away peacefully at home in Corpus Christi, with loving family by her side on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Born in Bisbee, Arizona, to Nicodemus and Gertrude ( Dybowski ) Scheffler on March 27, 1930, Rose grew up on a small farm in the Nopal community near Yorktown, Texas. For Rose, any hardships of farm life were softened by the love of her parents and younger brother, James. She had a lifelong love of nature, the singing of birds, beautiful flowers, and the miracle of all living things.
Before graduating from Yorktown High School, Rose met the love of her life and future husband, Edward Broll, at a country dance. In 1950, she and Edward were united in marriage at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown. Soon after, the young couple moved to Corpus Christi to start their family and begin a new life together. And with deep love for family and faith, they proudly provided all ten of their children with a foundational Catholic education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This foundational legacy now lives on in the lives of their descendants.
Rose is survived by children Kathleen, Ronald, Jeff, Dennis ( Catja ), Grace Karrer ( Ken ), Trisha Cline ( Doug ), and John. Also surviving her are eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and beloved brother, James ( Elayne ). Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty nine years, Edward John, daughter Janice Mims ( Michael ) and sons, James and Kenneth. Also preceding her were daughter-in-law, Mona ( Ronald ), their son Dewey, and niece, Debi Scheffler.
A devout Catholic, Rose cherished her faith in God and was deeply devoted to the Holy Family. She drew upon her religious convictions to raise her children with Christian morals and Church teachings. Her life was a beautiful testament to character, grace, and Christian charity. She will forever be remembered for her endless devotion to her loved ones.
Special family thanks and recognition to Eucharistic Minister, Jacinta Ortiz, for the many visits providing Rose Holy
Communion, prayers, and comfort.
