Ruben Garza Landin

Ruben G. Landin went to be with our Lord on September 27, 2012 peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born on August 24, 1931 in Sabinas, Hidalgo, N.L. In 1954 he came to Corpus Christi and had the livelihood of farming in the London and West Oso area. He took pride in his knowledge of agriculture and had a strong work ethic by providing for his family. Together him and his wife Velia raised 8 children and instilled in them good moral values. He had a sense of “honesty” about him and wouldn’t hold back from sharing his opinions. He enjoyed farm life, BBQ’s going to the flea market and had a love for Spanish music.

He is survived by his wife Velia, “the love of his life” for 61 years and his children, Alberto, Adolfo (Georgina), Alvaro, Amaro (Sharon), Joel, Rosario (Vidal), Mario (Noelia) and Lorena (Matt) along with 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Angel Bright Hospice and residing neighbors for the compassion, kind words shown to our father and family during the difficult time.
