Ruben was born on October 27, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Remigio and Ester Rodriguez. He graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1973 and married the love of his life, Guadalupe Torres, in 1977. Together they built a life in La Porte, Texas, where they lovingly raised their three daughters and created a home centered on faith, family, and hard work.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Guadalupe Rodriguez; his daughters, Sharon (Mario) Hernandez, Deena (Kevin) Smith, and Jo Ann (Tim) Gore; and his six cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Esmeralda Valdez; his brother, Homer Rodriguez; their spouses; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Remigio and Ester Rodriguez; his sister, Elva Garcia; and his brother, Joe Rodriguez.
Ruben dedicated 20 years of service as Parts Manager at R.B. Everett & Company, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.
Ruben found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, caring for his aquariums, grilling for family and friends, and spending Sunday afternoons surrounded by the people he loved most. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady work ethic, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ruben's life on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. A reception will follow at The Hall at Ridgestone.
