Sally Louise Daly, 79, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on May 22, 2024. She was born on February 20, 1945, in San Diego, California to Baxter and Dee Ann Jackson. Sally was a lifelong teacher who spent her career inspiring thousands of students in California, Washington DC, and eventually Corpus Christi, Texas.
She educated her “kids” until her body could no longer physically carry her to the classroom every day. Some of the greatest memories that will live on in her family’s hearts are that their mom would have college students that she had taught visit when they would instruct her 8th graders to keep their notebooks because Mrs. Daly teaches "great material you will use". She also loved the Pickett's Charge multi-disciplinary project at Baker Middle School when the students would reenact a Civil War skirmish with water balloons after working with their math, science, and of course their favorite history teacher. Of all the accolades that she garnered in her career including the prestigious Leon Jaworski Award for Teaching Excellence, her favorite recognition came from the multiple invites to the annual Valedictorian dinners, the countless thank you notes from current and past students, and the satisfaction of seeing her students thrive in her classroom while developing a passion for learning. The family knows she inspired a lot of kids and finds solace in the fact that her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Baxter and Dee Ann Jackson, and her brother Danny Jackson, whom she was dedicated to. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, John Daly and wife Shelly, and Jennifer Garcia and husband Michael, and Sister-in-Law Rebecca Elzner. She also leaves behind her church family at All Saint’s Episcopal Church, many friends, and thousands of her former students.
