He was preceded in death by his father Serafin Sanchez Sr., mother and step-father Aurora and Gonzalo Paiz, sister Araceli Trevino, brother Serafin Sanchez Jr., and grandson Robert Sanchez Jr.
He is survived by his wife Ofilia A. Sanchez, sister Adalina Ramirez, sons Robert Sanchez Sr. (Lola) and Joseph T. Sanchez (Cynthia), grandchildren Ysabel Sanchez, Jarrod Sanchez, Samantha Herbst (Bob), and Savannah Sanchez. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A decorated Army veteran, he served in occupied Germany after WWII, and during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He finished out his career, stationed in Miami, FL. before retiring in 1970, after 22 years of honorable and dedicated service to our country. However, he continued to work for the State of Texas until 1993 for his final retirement. Thereafter, he set out to complete his ranch in Orange Grove, Tx. He lived out his years spending time with his growing family and enjoying the life he built. His last days were spent remembering everything accomplished in his 93 years, surrounded by family.
Visitation will begin from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 at Funeraria Del Angel – Memorial Holly Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 13th, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Seaside Cemetery, with military honors and presentation of the American Flag.
