

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elias Rodriguez.
Santiago is survived by his wife, Janie Ayala Rodriguez; children, Jonathan Rodriguez, Jeremy Rodriguez (Dulce), Michael (MaryAnn) Masquifelt, Johnny (Tanya) Masquifelt, Jennifer (Mark) Espinoza and David Ayala, Jr. Also surviving are his siblings, Ruben (Carolina) Rodriguez, Rachel (Trino) Lopez and Jovita (Leonel) Mendoza. His survivors include 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Santiago graduated from Roy Miller High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He received a Purple Heart during his service in the Vietnam War. He worked for Corpus Christi Army Depot and was getting ready to retire. Some of Santiago’s favorite hobbies were golf, going to casinos and traveling the country with his loving wife. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Santiago was a member of Divine Mercy Society. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel –Memorial Holly on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Peter Prince of the Apostle on Violet Rd. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am with Msgr. Heras officiating. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in his name be made to Mother Theresa Day Shelter, 513 Sam Rankin St.
